This commute isn’t nearly as bad as the one I had when we lived in Staten Island. By the way I’m really sick this morning which is unusual for me so if this journal entry sounds a little cranky, well, that’s because I feel like shit. So back to the commute, the thing is that I get to ride the train and I LOVE the train! For me, it’s like getting on an amusement ride every morning. I settle down into a seat hopefully by the window and get My ticket ready, put on My glasses and start to read My book until the train guy comes for the ticket. I don’t know what his real title is but I do know he’s NOT called the conductor because when the ticket man heard Me call him that he laughed and said, “Oh you are cute”. I gave him My best scowl but it didn’t seem to faze him one bit because he was still grinning at Me when he handed over the ticket.
The one thing I DON’T like about the train is that there are too many people around for me to talk to finn every morning. I was really used to that and talking to My property every morning seemed to get my day started well. Even if he pissed Me off, it didn’t matter because I was still in My true element. I guess I could speak to him of just mundane things but that would bore us BOTH. Plus, I can’t talk to him without some form or fashion of the lifestyle coming up. With us, it just seems to wind its way into even the most vanilla of conversations. Just like the picture above, everyone on the train is in your business.
Speaking of finn, We have had a visit since I last spoke and it was a very interesting one at that. This wasn’t really a play trip; it was just a time for us to be together. I had to go to Houston to be there for My daughter’s bridal portraits and he was in Texas on a conference, so it worked out. finn knew that it would be doubtful if we would get a chance to “play” and wanted to come anyway. I LOVED sharing my family with him. Both of My children love him and now My grandson has found someone ELSE to like better than Me as well.
The first night, we went out with Nik and Matt to Buppa da something which was to be a dry run for the restaurant of the last supper or the rehearsal dinner. We all had so much fun and finn and Matt happily drank beer. I think that finn was just relieved that I didn’t take him to a sushi restaurant or make him eat Cajun gumbo. I also can’t forget the fiasco at the Bridal shop while Nikki was in a panic that they had not finished the alterations on her dress for the pictures on Tuesday and it was Saturday. I noticed finn wore a smug smile on his face as Nik and I bickered at each other and I went into Mistress mode with the seamstress when Nik burst into tears. I think he thought it was cute when Nik sent him to get stuff from the car and when he came back the seamstress told Nikki her father was outside. None of us said anything and they found poor finn a chair with instructions to “sit there”, which he did with no argument.
The next “experience” was to drive to Beaumont to see the other half of My family. My son Josh and Christy and my grandson Dylan. My children couldn’t BE more different. The whole day started off rocky when I discovered that Josh wasn’t even home and that he’d taken the family down to the “river” because he never DREAMED in a million years that I would be ON TIME. I could hear finn’s unspoken “oh boy” as soon as I clicked off My cell phone with a growl.
But, things got better fast as Josh proudly showed off their new house to me and Dylan showed us all his new room and his “frog”. Yes people, I had to hold a FROG, and I did it quite well I think. I am on a mission for Dylan to like me and since he’s so much like Josh, I know how. Unfortunately it will entail oooing and ahhing over “critters” and sloshing through the swamp. Which we did.
After we had lunch, which included “crawfish, mudbugs” (finn was praying the whole time I wouldn’t make him eat one), we decided to go on a swamp ride. The one we wanted was closed but when we went to a little store for a coke, Josh found a man willing to take us. So we followed back down to the boat ramp and climbed in. There weren’t many critters out but we did see an eagle and an alligator.
Dylan was thrilled to death and it was all we could do to keep him from climbing out of the boat. He’s used to the swamp, his dad has him out in it all the time and he’s already been duck hunting and goes kayaking (however you spell that silly word) regularly. I complain bitterly about Josh taking him in that little tiny boat that spills over so easily and he just says, “oh Mom, it’s ok, he learned how to hold his breath.”
finn was a trooper for this trip and I think he enjoyed it even though it was a different kind of trip for us. There was no dungeon on this one and we usually stay together at the hotel so this time there wasn’t much time for any slave training. But even on a vanilla trip, finn kept to his place and I was proud of him. Of course I’m proud of Me too, since I trained him.. lol I was pretty amazed that Houston doesn’t have a dungeon. They pretty much stick to private dungeons and parties. I really think that is a shame because it divides the community so much and creates a hierarchy. Quite a change from the welcome that finn and I received when We visited the San Diego, Club X. So anyway, finn and I are in this for the long haul so we both knew there would be other trips where We could practice our lifestyle openly and just relaxed and enjoyed this time together.
More to come on the day of the bridal portraits…
