birthday parties and dog purses/carriers

One of the really wonderful things about being back in NYC is that I have Freinds again. I know, I know you are probably getting really TIRED of hearing that but I really missed that!

Wednesday was Luke's birthday and after observing him and many long conversations I decided that he really missed having that connection of someone that cared about him. The passing of both his parents within 6 months of each other was hard on Luke but even harder is being in life without them. He has a life partner (Jimmy) but it's just not the same as he is really the LEAD in that relationship. I would have said "top" as I am getting really more GAY savvy but I'm still not sure if that is just a sexual term or one for who seems to be the ruling force. Luke would say it's Jimmy but in My opinion it's Luke himself that sets the tone. I'm enjoying this new freindship very much and Luke has found a place in My heart. That can be a good thing and a bad thing... lol.

Never the less, I decided that Luke needed a real honest to goodness birthday party. We had been to Chelsea the weekend before to brunch at East of Eighth for brunch. All the really cute gay guys walking down the street had on cargo shorts. I decided that Luke needed some too so I headed out to Old Navy to get him some. There were WAYYYY more to choose from so I was there for a long time. I lucked out because they were on sale. I had a hard time trying to guess his size so I opted for a 36 and grabbed a shirt that "looked very LuKe", stopped at CVS and bought happy birthday wrapping paper and headed home.

The next day I went to the dollar store and bought all the PARTY items and when Charles got home we headed out to BAskin and Robbins to get an icecream cake that said happy birthday luke on it. Party items included hats and plates and napkins and a banner and LOTS of candles. Charles was only just putting up with Me in My "I'm giving a party so get on board with it" mode. I kept getting these side looks and I could tell he was biting back smart ass retorts. Luke and Jimmy were late getting back from the City and We let them take the car to go out to dinner. We had already eaten. When they got back everyone came upstairs and We lit the candles and sang happy birthday.... take a look! I'll try the IN POST picture..... I can see I'm going to like this picture thing.. lol...

So as you can see We all had a wonderful time and even the dogs were in the party. I think harley is pretty disgusted about the birthday hat... but OH WELL! I did print this picture of L & J out and give it to them in a frame. They decided that Lady looks like an alien dog but that fits right in with My theory about Jesus being an alien but that is for a different blog.... More coming later.. I'm sure you will enjoy that one.. he he.....
