After the wedding we had to rush off to a call for Charles and couldn’t attend the wedding reception. I was really pissed off about that, having waited nearly a year for jason’s wedding, I wasn’t too happy about being cheated out of the “fun part”. I thought about finding someone else to go home with but I really didn’t know anyone else at the wedding. I was in one of those “silent moods” in the car and Charles kept reaching over to tousle My hair. He LOVES to do that and I hate it but I rarely say anything because I know he loves to run his fingers in My hair as We drive but when I’m sulking and pissed off, it’s not a good idea.
Charles of course doesn’t let THAT stop him. If he can’t have the pleasure of running His fingers in My hair, he can have the fun of fucking with Me when I’m pissed off for no other reason than because he CAN. I was having a conversation with a boy I am getting to know the other day and the subject was why I chose to marry a Dominant man instead of a submissive one. I told him because I find I need the balance to keep Me steady. On days like yesterday, I sometimes wonder what alien world I was visiting when I came up with that plan. Charles knows that if he keeps that up long enough and keeps poking at Me, at some point I will ease up on My cranky mood.
Yesterday that wasn’t working so he dangled a treat in front of Me. He mixed it with some mystery which is a sure fire fix because there is only one attribute that is stronger than My Dominance and that is CURIOSITY. It is the bane of My existence and had gotten Me into more trouble than I can even begin to list. Of course it’s also brought Me a lot of happiness but regardless of the end result, it doesn’t really matter because I rarely can not resist the call of My curiosity.
Charles knows I have always wanted to see Montauk so he said that he would take Me sight seeing and if all went well he had two surprises for Me in our exploration. That bought him a sideways look and “really, what KIND of surprise?” from My lips. The mood shifted at that point from cranky to curious and I began to try to get Charles to uncover the surprise. He is most excellent surprise keeper when he wants to be so I finally let that go and asked for Starbucks which was a sign to Charles that the mood was changing and there was a chance to save the day. I was able to get coffee while he made quick work of his service call and we set off on one of our explorations.

The end of Long Island is beautiful and first we went to Sag Harbor. I have heard so much about it even when I was in Texas so when the first glimpse of the pretty water up against the white sand of a public beach there I knew why. The town is very quaint and includes a windmill which I think is probably a present from the Dutch influence that seems to be so prevalent in the north. I don’t think the Dutch liked Texas much because I’ve never seem much from them there.
We drove on to an overlook and by this time I had completely forgotten about being pissed off and was climbing excitedly out of the car to look out over the water. Charles was pointing out that we could see Rhode Island from here just across the water. He’s always a wealth of information where geography is concerned and constantly scolding Me for not paying more attention to it. I just nod and think to Myself that I have no need to do that when I know that He will share his knowledge anyway, but I keep this as MY little secret.
We are driving through the different “Hamptons” and I’m thinking about how strange it is that a majority of the people that we see out and about have never had to work in their life or understand the premise of having to work to eat. I asked Charles if we could afford to live in Sag Harbor and he said that would be possible after My second book was published and on the best seller list. That is how he measures everything now. We can do this on your second book, that on your third book.. etc. etc. It’s his way to let Me know he supports My passion and to motivate Me to keep writing. It works.
Next we get to the first surprise as Charles shows Me on the GPS that We are at the very LAST point of Long Island. No more roads but the surprise soon looms ahead and as soon as I saw it I was hugging him. It was a real working lighthouse probably dating back to the early 1600’s. I LOVE lighthouses and this one was in excellent shape. We got out and climbed around looking at it. I was having a ball! Pretty soon Charles said he was hungry and it was time for the last surprise.
We drove back up the island a few miles and he turned on to a tiny road and a brand new restaurant popped up ahead. It turns out that the Inlet Seafood Restaurant was one of his accounts. He said it was a kind of a co-op owned by several of the fishermen in the area. They bought the land years ago at a really great price and then later built this restaurant. We went out to the most PERFECT table on the deck and the view was just unbelievable. We ordered some locally made beer and had a most excellent dinner of seafood. The Maitre D suggested this raw tuna salad (finn is gagging now .. lol) called a Poke salad made with fresh tuna, this crunchy seaweed I’ve never tried before, avocados all mixed up in a wonderful sauce that I couldn’t quite nail down but had a hint of ginger. Then I had a wonderful pumpkin crab soup and some fried sea scallops with freshly made French fries. Charles had herb crusted fluke ( I’ve never tried this fish but it was delicious) with sugar snap peas which he shared with Me since he knows I love them. We sat there just talking and agreeing that it was a most wonderful dining destination and which friends we would like to bring there. Charles suggested that maybe we could invite jason and sue to make up for missing the reception. It was getting close to sunset and I suggested we watch it but Charles had one last surprise.
We paid our bill and hopped back into the car and Charles brought us to another beach overlook and we pulled in quickly and went to lean against the front of the car to watch “El Set”. Other people were pulling over too and got out to watch as well. Some girls asked us to take a picture and we did so they took one of us as well.
We did the count down as the sun did the last little “pop” and sunk below the horizon and celebrated it with a kiss. I let Myself just quietly reflect on how happy I am. I have some problems but they are nothing compared to what others are dealing with and this wonderful day and I am thankful for the blissful gift.
Today, I saw My wonderful jason get his hearts desire and shared the rest of it exploring with MY heart’s desire. What more can I ask?
