I know, I know you want to hear about the issue with Me finding a girl and I will but I want to say something else first.
So, I'm an animal lover and if you read this blog you know that by now. I think that anytime you see something that just isnt right, you should stand up for that. It doesn't really matter if people think your crazy, you still owe it to that cause to speak up. One of those issues for me is the practice of animal testing for products that corporate america uses to profit from.
We pay a lot of attention to anti fur campaigns... take a look at the unfriendly welcome that Jennifer Lopez got that the premier of her new movie…
“Jennifer Lopez's latest premiere was besieged by angry anti-fur protestors.
The Latin beauty was horrified to turn up to the New York screening of new movie 'An Unfinished Life' to find PETA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - members waving placards and banners. .
One
sign showed a picture of an animal killed for its fur, with a slogan saying: "Here's an unfinished life".
Jennifer, who attended the premiere with husband Marc Anthony, became the target of PETA protestors became she sometimes wears fur, and she also used fur in her new fashion range, Sweetface. .
Earlier this year, Jennifer was targeted by furious anti-fur activists, who rampaged at her Los Angeles 'Monster-in-Law' premiere. .”
I have to tell you that I used to like her but celebrities that wear fur make a statement to Me that they are cold uncaring people. While We are at it, add Sean John to that list too. I really used to like him but his fur wearing habits make a statement about him that I can’t support. The issue of not killing animals for their hides to keep up warm in a time when chemistry and industry has provided us with so many alternatives to wearing fur, has crossed over from a cause only activistist participate in to one that everyone cares about.
I want to see that same thing happen for animal testing. The biggest argument is medical companies and the survival of the fittest attitude. If we need to kill them or torture them for our lives to go on, then in the minds of some people, it’s ok. But I say baby steps is the best approach. Lets take a look at the companies that are using animals to test products that we use for beauty and comfort. Investigations into farms that don't even bother to kill the animals before peeling their skin off are horifying. If you can't stand to see it, that is fine, just don't buy their products or wear fur and encourage others to follow suit. SPEAK UP!
We are trashing our planet and torturing the lesser creatures here for our own health and comfort. There has to be some bad karma coming back our way for doing such a thing.
Jenny sent Me a list the other day of all the companies that do animal testing. I went to a few websites to see what they had to say about that and they do of course say they are making progress and some of them claim they no longer test on their NEW products. PETA says to beware, just because they claim no testing doesn’t mean they are not OUTSOURCING it.
I’m taking a long hard look at what I buy now. I pay a little more for eggs to buy ones that are free range. I would never EVER wear fur or go anywhere with anyone else that was wearing fur. I am now going to do some research on the products I use and if animals have been strapped down and tortured so that My hair can be blond or My mascara stays on all day. I am sure I can find a more responsible company to buy from.
It’s not ok anymore to say.. “oh those people are just crazy. They go overboard.” This isn’t the rural society it used to be. We have choices. I don’t want to make ones that hurt the animals that share the earth with us. God gave them to us to sustain life, not to torture them for our own vanity.
I hope I have convinced you to make a few changes in your choices but if I haven’t, just consider it a command… *wink*
Here are some things you can do....
Say 'Hell, No' to J. Lo
Most people agree that wearing fur is wrong. Please don't support Jennifer Lopez or her bloody business. Many hot designers, including Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Todd Oldham, Marc Bouwer, and others have turned their backs on fur and created synthetic alternatives that are hip, humane, and easily available and don't turn animals into fashion victims.
Write to J. Lo and tell her that promoting the violence of the fur industry is a low-down, dirty, rotten shame.
